PucaTrade Launches

November 08, 2013

After a 15 hour day, hours and hours of launch prep and testing, the new site is up! We have really taken this website to the next level and opened it up for immediate success.

How is it different?

Let's start with what was there. The design needed improvement, functionality was buggy and it was written in Perl. It's not a standard web platform for building websites. I've never written a website in Perl (I assume most people haven't)

We've rebuilt the site on a PHP MVC framework to give us flexibility for updates and building new features. So, some things are different... well ALL the things are different. PucaTrade has a new logo, new design, new database, new platform, and new functionality.

Some of the most notable features are:

  • More ways to trade: Before you could only see cards that you had that someone else wanted. Now you can see all the cards that everyone want, in case you didn't have those entered into your list as haves.
  • Profiles: Members now can create a profile with info about themselves and a view of their want list.
  • PucaValue Index: In the past, our price data came from only one source. But for PucaTrade, we thought that we could create even more accurate card values if we considered data from hundreds of different sources instead of just one. So we now do, and we call our new pricing index the PucaValue Index.
  • Internal Feedback and Support Channel: This allows members an easy channel to communicate with PucaTrade directly and get any trade disputes resolved in a quick fashion.
  • Two versions of membership: There used to be just PucaPro, but now we have uncommon and rare memberships. The features only get better as you go up.
  • Blog: PucaTrade and qualified members are now writing blog posts devoted to giving members information on the latest site features, deck tech and useful information revolving around the game.
  • These are just a few of the additions and improvements.
